- Teaching the patient/caregiver regarding infection control procedures/prevention
A Pulmonary Rehab has many benefits; however the ultimate goal is for that patient to improve their ability to function independently. Your rehab team will create a plan that’s tailored to your abilities and needs and will schedule you weekly for therapy sessions. Your team will help coordinate and deliver your plan of care in a professional and appropriate manner.
Studies show that people who learn about their breathing condition and treatment plan are better able to recognize symptoms and take appropriate action. However, education is no substitute for regular exercise as a part of a pulmonary rehab program. Most people who complete a pulmonary rehab in-home or at an outpatient setting/clinic feel better. Patients also report of being able to perform more activities without shortness of breath and improving their quality of life.
